Restoring the path between Innate Intelligence and the human body.
The upper cervical spine—specifically the Atlas (C1) and Axis (C2) vertebrae—forms the most critical junction in the human frame. It is here that the brainstem, an extension of the brain itself, passes through to connect with the rest of the body.
When these two delicate complex bones are in perfect alignment, the body's "Innate Intelligence" can flow unimpeded, coordinating every function, healing every tissue, and maintaining optimal health from above-down, inside-out.
The anatomical diagram to the left illustrates the relationship between structure and function. Notice how the Dens of C2 acts as a pivot, sticking straight up. The ring of the Atlas (C1) sits perfectly around it. Most importantly, observe the glowing channel representing the brainstem and spinal cord passing through the posterior half of that ring, immediately behind the Dens.
Because this area allows for the majority of head rotation, it is uniquely vulnerable. A misalignment here—a subluxation—creates direct mechanical tension on that vital neural pathway.
B.J. Palmer famously spoke of "The Big Idea"—a concept simple in its statement but profound in its application. It is the realization that the power that made the body heals the body, provided there is no interference.
A small slip in the upper cervical spine (the cause) can lead to massive systemic dysfunction (the effect) by interfering with the transmission of mental impulses. Conversely, a precise, gentle correction at this vital juncture releases the body's Innate Intelligence, allowing restored health from above-down, inside-out.
Upper Cervical care focuses on the precise correction of this vital area to allow the body to perform at its optimum.
